On Thursday evening, as the prosecutor for the Ohio kidnapping investigation seeks murder charges for the accused abductor, Ariel Castro, "Piers Morgan Live" welcomed Cleveland WOIO news reporter Lydia Esparra to share her in-depth insight on the case of one of the three kidnapped women, Gina DeJesus.
A close friend of the DeJesus family, and a long time advocate for Gina's return, Esparra sat down with the now rescued 23 year-old woman earlier in the day and discovered that Gina had lost the ability to speak Spanish.
"One of her relatives came over and started speaking Spanish and Gina looks at her mom and she says, 'Mom, I don't remember Spanish.'"
"And that would make sense if you're being held in a basement for nine years because as anyone knows if you have a second language, which I do, you have to practice it every single day."
Watch the clip, and listen to the interview as Esparra tells Piers Morgan how the DeJesus family felt about the realization that Castro was often nearby and cordial with the family during the 10 years that Gina was missing.
