- Costas: Armstrong lied to me
Friday, Bob Costas sat down with Piers Morgan and a studio audience to talk all things sports. Costas opened up to Morgan about Lance Armstrong, their relationship and his lies.
Several years ago Costas had the chance to grill Armstrong while filling in on CNN's "Larry King Live" though he quickly discovered Armstrong never wavered. Looking back, Costas now knows he lied. "He lied to me and he lied to everybody else."
"I didn't take it personally," Costas said. The "Piers Morgan Live" host asked him if Armstrong has apologized. The response:
"I'm sure it's a long list and he hasn't gotten to me yet. He's got a lot of apologizing to do."
- Costas on Jason Collins' coming out
One person Costas could not speak more highly of was Jason Collins. Collins came out last month after more than a decade in the NBA. The sportscaster said he is "surprised that it took that long" but "glad that it did." Costas said Collins is the "perfect candidate" to come out:
"He's obviously an extremely bright, well educated guy," Costas began. "And he's able to understand and if he chooses to, speak articulately about the issue... He's the perfect guy to deflect all of these either bigoted or - let's be kind, some people are uncomfortable and haven't come around on it yet. He's the perfect person to give the lie to those notions."
- A quick quiz
To close out the show the host and his guest did a quick quiz about British and American sports.
"If I said I was bowling you a googly, and I had two silly mid ones and a fine leg, would you know what the hell I'm talking about?" the host asked.
"I would say the police probably brought you home in the middle of the night," Costas responded.
The real answer? Cricket terminology. Morgan explained "cricket is basically baseball for people with brains."
Well, "What's an Uncle Charlie?" Costas asked. "I have an Uncle Charlie, actually," Morgan noted.
Costas educated the host a bit about baseball before closing out the show with a singing of "Take Me Out to The Ball Game."

Your interview last night with Michael Vick one of the biggest serial killers of sentient beings and defenseless creatures where he made his fortune off their backs was revealing how these offenders cannot lose. Praising someone we all know was found guilty and we witnessed on TV the chattered spirits and broken bodies of his play things to be nauseating to say the least. I don't what is happening on this planet but rewarding and praising the criminals is very very wrong. Defenseless beings be they human or animal, pain and suffering is felt in the same way.
