Star Jones on an unsolved Mich. murder: "Somebody knows something...somebody heard something...somebody saw something"
On Tuesday evening, "Piers Morgan Live" invited Star Jones to join him for an emotional, face to face conversation that comes amidst an unsolved Michigan murder.
A well-known television personality with a law background, Jones is using her public platform to gain attention for a case she feels might otherwise suffer from a lack of attention:
"A young woman in her 30's went out to run an errand that any mother would, at just before three o'clock in the morning, and was never seen again alive. Her body was found near a lake in Pontiac, Michigan," explained the former co-host of "The View." "Somebody knows something, Piers. Somebody heard something. Somebody saw something. And what we're trying to do is to get that person or those people to come forward and share that information with authorities."
Jones is close friends with the sister of the victim – 32-year-old Rosaline “Rhonda” Ransom Lee – and contends skin color plays a large role in dictating the coverage of national journalists:
"It's not just my opinion, it's fact, that the majority of stories that are done in the media really are about Caucasian women being missing or being killed. African-American women don't get the amount of attention, and it takes a lot to get that attention."
Recognizing the influence that Jones' platform allows her, she told Piers Morgan she pleased with the response that has come from her speaking out:
"Since I've opened my mouth, all aspects of the media has come out and been very, very supportive. The squeaky wheel really does get the grease," noted Jones. "The louder you talk, the more you talk, the more consistent you are in saying that we cared about this person – you have to put a real face to a tragedy."

This is simply NOT true. Right now there are several high profile murder cases in the media whereby white (and other non-black) women were victimized by their husbands, boyfriends or unknowns and I can't think of one case besides Rhonda's. One of the reasons that Nancy Grace had previously come under attack (and made a great effort recently with Star covering Rhonda's murder- to handle this perception) because Grace seemed to frequently cover missing and/or murdered white girls and women. There have been several studies that look at HOW and in WHAT degree black victims are covered in the media in this country. We all see urban crimes reported EVERYDAY. What we don't see are the black VICTIMS often living "upright", productive, successful lives. One of the reasons BlackandMissinginc.com was developed for this similar purpose, to give black, nameless missing and exploited missing children a face and a voice.
I get that some crimes are not covered as much as others and honestly feel for those who are minorities, but what single mom has to run an errand at 3am?
That, to me, is the question. What was this single mom doing out at 3am with her kids at home alone? Was one of her kids sick and she was picking up medication? I'm trying to understand?
But unless one of her kids was sick, she gets no pass for leaving her kids at home alone.

Some people are so ignorant that it depresses me. You didn't know Rosaline, I did. And I wouldnt care what time she left the house. That is not a reason for murder. Watch what you say because karma has a way of teaching people like you a lesson.

The Kids were with her father whom she stayed with!!!!! It doesn't matter what she was doing, whatever it was did not mean that she had to be killed! Her kids were accounted for, and we still dont know what she was doing, why she was out, or if someone called her out, we just Dont Know. All we know is that yet another mother, daughter, sister and mine along with many others Friend has been senselessly taken away from us all! Please do not pass judgement on Rosaline because if you knew her I promise you, you'd love her! Just go to her FB page, she was all about empowering and making people smile, and I am so greatful to her for showing us just how beautiful she was in her numerous videos she posted up until the day this tragedy occured. We all make mistakes, and we never know when or how we will leave here, only God has those answers, so I'm just patiently waiting on justice for Rosaline!!

It amazes me how ignorant some of you people are. It doesn't matter if she was black or white nor does it matter what she was doing out at 3am. What does matter is that 3 children have lost their mother and a family has lost their loved one and that the killer or killers are still out there to do this to someone elses loved one. The family,her children,friends and the community wants answers to this criime and if they have to use Star Jones help to get it than so be it. So get your head out of your asses and worry about the important thing her which is justice for Rosaline a kind,sweet and spiritual person who didn't deserve this.
