Last night, Piers Morgan welcomed Staff Sergeant Alonso Lunsford to discuss his experience during the Fort Hood Shooting in 2009 and his thoughts about the upcoming trial.

Sergeant Lunsford was allegedly shot seven times by sole suspect Nidal Hasan, who was serving as a military psychiatrist at Fort Hood.

Lunsford remembers the shooting with a deep feeling of betrayal: “Seeing someone that wears the same uniform that I wear that was shooting us and at the time not having a reason to shoot us but by him yelling "Allahu Akbar," I was hurt because in the military we all believe one color. It doesn't matter what your national origin is because we're fighting for a common cause.”

Hasan has chosen to represent himself in the trial being brought against him. “I'm very upset about it,” Lonford confesses. “Major Hasan is an army psychiatrist and so he's very well trained on how to deal with service members that suffer from TBI or PTSD, traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress disorder,” both from which Lunsford suffers. He fears that when he is cross-examined by the trained psychiatrist, Hasan will “try to push certain triggers to try to get a physical reaction ... So basically we have to outsmart and outwit him at the game that he's trying to play.”

As part of the recently launched "Breaking the News" segment, on Tuesday evening "Piers Morgan Live" invited Margaret Hoover and Marc Lamont Hill to offer their insight on Governor Chris Christie's decision to wait for a special election before filling former Sen. Frank Lautenberg's seat.

"He's not interested in helping his party. Why? Because he's interested in getting re-elected in a blue state as a GOP governor," insisted Hoover, an author and television personality, before offering insight :

"Frankly, if Republicans are interested in playing in the northeast and playing in New England, they should study what Chris Christie is doing," explained Hoover.

Host of Huffingtonpost Live, Lamont Hill questioned the political motivation behind Christie’s decision suggested by Hoover:

“People act as if he has to choose between helping his party and helping himself. There's this other group of people known as the voters ... He wants them to have an elected senator as soon as possible. I think that's what it's about.”

This decision may have consequences in Christie’s fight for reelection in 2016. Hoover asserted her skepticism over whether Christie will survive the Republican primary.
