Attorneys David Boies and Ted Olson Supreme Court's rulings: "We are tickled to death...we could not be happier"

On the backdrop of monumental Supreme Court decisions which did away with the Defense of Marriage Act and dismissed Proposition 8, on Wednesday evening "Piers Morgan Live" invited David Boies and Ted Olson to offer their insights into the process, and reactions to the decisions.

"We are tickled to death with what happened in the Supreme Court today. It is a victory for all these people in California that wish to get married to the person that they love," said Olson, an attorney for the Prop 8 plaintiffs. "This is what we set out to do, when we first took this case, and this is what happened today in the Supreme Court of the United States. The vindication of the rights of these individuals to be treated with dignity and respect and equality. We could not be happier."

Champions of LGBT rights who argued together before the Supreme Court, Boies and Olsen each noted the impact of a pair of 5-4 rulings, despite the argument that Wednesday's rulings didn't go far enough towards granting all homosexuals the right to marry in America:

"Well, what you did get was a decision that I think lays the groundwork for decisions all across the country to establish marriage equality in every one of the 50 states," offered David Boies, who helped convince the court in California to vacate an appeal, thus re-instituting an original ruling. "The district court's decision does establish that broad civil right for all Americans under the constitution to marry the person that they love. And if you just hear the people around here, you'll understand how they are interpreting today's victory."
