Michael Mukasey on allegations that James Cartwright leaked classified intel: "Hard for me to believe that it was done without approval"

On the heels of a report alleging that the former vice chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff is currently being investigated by the Justice Department, on Thursday evening Piers Morgan invited Mike Mukasey to offer his reaction.

According to the source, Retired Marine Gen. James Cartwright – who was once the second-highest ranking officer in the U.S. Military – is under investigation for allegedly leaking classified information specifically related to secret cyber-weapons aimed at Iran's nuclear program.

A former United States Attorney General, Mukasey admitted to being disappointed by the developments:

"My reaction is regret, number one. General Cartwright is a very capable soldier and made terrific contributions to the intelligence capability of this country," he told the "Piers Morgan Live" host.

Continuing his assessment, Mukasey theorized that Cartwright might have been following a direct order:

"If he is, in fact, the source of the information, it's hard for me to believe that it was done without approval," said the guest. "Look, his lawyer is a former White House counsel. The nature of the information that was released was such that somebody of his stature, I don't think would have released it without at least a wink and a nod from somebody in authority."

What makes this any different than what Snowden has been charged with...Nothing. But with "4 Star" corporate protection...he will remian completely unscathed. He has damaged the credibility and intelligence community of the US, just as badly as Manning and Snowden...reaserch it and see

If Gen. Cartwright was given a "nod" to release the information as Mr. Mukasey so freely infers, the general simly needs to testify under oath who that person was.
Of course, the fact that he was a Reagen (District Court)/ George W Bush (AG) appointee wouldn't cloud his judgement, would it? Just another lying Republican? Possibly.

Together with the whole thing which seems to be building inside this particular subject matter, many of your opinions are actually somewhat stimulating. However, I appologize, because I do not subscribe to your entire strategy, all be it stimulating none the less. It seems to everyone that your remarks are not totally justified and in simple fact you are generally your self not really thoroughly convinced of your assertion. In any event I did take pleasure in looking at it.
