Mark O'Mara on George Zimmerman: "My client will never be safe"
As the George Zimmerman trial moves into its third week, on Monday evening "Piers Morgan Live" invited Mark O'Mara to offer his insight and perspective on the proceedings, as part of a primetime, exclusive interview.
The man tasked with representing the defendant, O'Mara told Piers Morgan that regardless of the case's outcome, Zimmerman will forever be looking over his shoulder:
"First of all, my client will never be safe, because there are a percentage of the population who are angry, they're upset, and they may well take it out on him," said the guest. "So, he'll never be safe."
However, O'Mara stands behind the sanctity and virtue of the country's legal system, hoping only that when the case is over, society can took solace in knowing the verdict comes as the result of honest and forthright litigation:
"Anybody who pays attention to the facts of this case, listens to the evidence, will not leave that courtroom thinking that George Zimmerman is guilty of anything. And, if a jury agrees, they should not and can not be frustrated with the outcome because the State's put on a good case, we put on a good case, everything that should get out to this jury has been out," O'Mara told the host. "If they decide on the facts of the case, we as a society – Black, White, everybody – need to look at this case and say justice was in fact accomplished here, because a fair trial was held."

Why do you, Piers, start trying to get trouble started when it comes to race? Making statements like what kind of trouble there will be if Zimmerman is found not guilty. You just have to put things like that in peoples head. You love to play the race card when things don't go your way.
I this Piers Morgan ALWAYS seems to be wanting to start race riots. He seems to be obsessed with it. It really is concerning and I am not sure why they give a platform for spreading that hate.
I keep asking why an American doesn't have this job. I really don't care what a brit has to say about anything that goes on in the US.
Sir, It is still a fact of life that African Americans feel the injustices done to your ancestors. I do not know what we can do! Is their a certain amount of white people that should be killed to even the score. What will do it? Should I offer up my first born! You are an American and not a former slave. All peoples have been persecuted at some time, even white people. This is the reason we are all here! Do you think it makes it better that 76% of all black babies are born to unwed mothers? I think it makes more sense, as my brother, that we should stand TOGETHER to change what injustices you feel subjected to instead of engaging in this civil war. I know you have to work harder and I am sorry for that! There are many Black Americans that have succeeded. We elected a Black president and I voted for him!

How do we know Trayvon punched someone first? First of all, we only say that because the defendant says that is what happened. No other case in history that I can think of that a defendant's version of events is taken as gospel without proof to back it up.
let's not forget a certain someone was held in contempt of court for lying about his finances.
Trayvon had the right to STAND HIS GROUND as well.
It is not the defendants need to prove innocence, it is the prosecution that must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, did you not see the casey anthony trial or the lady who was supposedly hired to kill another lady choked her to death, she got off, even if zimmerman did it and is guilty you have to respect the legal system it is there to protect the innocent, they must prove beyond a resonable doubt that he is guilty and they can't prove that. This isn't the only case like this, it is just the only one the media jumped on to and is inciting people to rally and fight over, when really this shouldn't be a public issue or a race issue.
How about this for a slight twist of Zim's story that could make all the difference? Zim says Trayvon was on top of him. Zim says he pulled his gun in self-defense; Zim says after he shot Trayvon, Trayvon sat up and said you got me or I get it, Zim says he thought he missed with the shot. Trayvon fell off Zim and Zim says he got on top of Trayvon, now nearly dead, spread out his arms and asked someone for help. I believe while Trayvon was on top of Zim, he saw Zim pull out the gun, at that point Trayvon said you got me or I get it, and at THAT point Zim pulled the trigger, killing Trayvon as the teenager was attempting to pull away. All we have is Zim's story and it's full of holes.
I agree 100% Trayvon had a right to defend himself didn't he. If he ended up on top of Zimmerman doesn't mean he was the aggressor. It just means that Zimmerman started a fight and he was losing it. Because you end up on top doesn;t mean you started it. It means Trayvon was defending himself from a over zealous neighborhood watch person.
Funny but seeing the T.V. show "cops" we see blacks fighting and running away from police all the time. For some odd reason they think law enforcement has no right to question them. So why would they respect neighborhood watchman? When a law enforcement searches pockets and finds baggie of crack we hear, not mine, didn't know what it is, holding for a friend and forgot friends name.

I don't know why people say George Zimmerman ignorede police warnings not to followTrayvon. If you list to the tape for the 200th time they did not say that. They said quote "We do not need you to follow him." A dispatcher is also not a police officer but a dispatcher. Also all the talk about the race issue I believe was started by Mr. Crump.When Trayvons parents first said anything they said this is not about race, we just want justice to take its course. Then when Mr. Crump steps in it now becomes a racial issue and you Piers can't let it go and keep bringing it out to the public. Lets let the system of justice take its course and not make it a case for hatred as it now is being portrayed as.
Perhaps you should listen to it for the 201th time!! No offense...but first...the dispatcher is NOT an officer...but why do you suppose they tell citizens that?? to protect both parties!! GZ stil had the freedom to follow..but just as he would have the freedom to run through a black neighborhood..say if he's acquitted and scream racial slurs. GZ was told by the dispatcher to stay at his car...then GZ told the dispatcher to have the police meet him at the clubhouse...then said have them meet me by the mailboxes...then he said have them just call him when they get there and he will tell them where he is.....WHY DIDNT HE JUST STAY AT THE CLUBHOUSE TILL THEY GOT THERE!! Why did he not know where he would be when the police came?? Cause he was following that boy...did not say he was neighborhood watch...and had a gun!! vs an unarmed teen!! What if it was your kid..ad some person came out of the rain..and darkness and spoke fouly to them..your kid would not know who that person was..and got scared...so the fact that he fights for his life...TM..means he beat up a grown man...remeber..all of that supposedly beating trayvon did to GZ ...TM had NO..repeat NO scratches or bruises on his knuckles...NO..DNA of GZ on his hands or not even fingernails...and exaclty how did TM bash his head in the ground repeatedly....what did he grab...GZ has no hair..TM was not a big kid..he was tall yes..but 158..but GZ outweighed him by 40lbs..and had spent 1 year ..3days a week taking MMA classes. THANK YOU! Someone finally that gives me hope in this horrible trial. The only pleasure I got is reading your response and hearing Thomas Roberts of MSNBC and the MMA trainer call Zimmerman a fat slob essentially. While these are little pleasures, they are pleasures nonetheless.
Why is it that the defense can talk about the minute amount of THC found in Trayvon's system, but nothing is being said about the prescription drugs Zimmerman was on. He was taking both Temazepam and Adderall, both of these meds are known to cause violent side effects such as aggressiveness, hallucinations, anxiety, delusions, and hostility.
Why is everyone accepting Zimmerman's version of what happened as the absolute truth? Oh that's right, Trayvon can't tell his side because he was gunned down by Zimmerman.
Also, what proof is there that Trayvon hit Zimmerman first (other than because Zimmerman said he did).
I hope the jurors are intelligent enough to remember that there are 2 sides to every story and Zimmerman made sure Trayvon couldn't tell his. Zimmerman is Guilty and I pray that he does not get away with this murder. Can you say "Dead Man Walking".
No one has ever come up with this senerio... Zimmerman already had his gun draw, at his side when approaching Martin, This makes so much sense...explains a lot. Zimmerman was ready to shoot, did not identify himself as Neighborhood Watch on approach. He wanted a confrontation, like a cop wannabe..
A struggle to get his gun while Martin was on top, is not clear. Physical testimony using dummy, shows gun was behind underneath and impossible to reach. Zimmerman's story just fell to pieces..

He could not describe struggle to get gun while Martin was on top, very clearly. Physically impossible. Wonder why no one even suggests this????

This case is a one sided story If Zimmerman was telling the whole truth, he would not be suffering, physically and mentally. Ubfortunately, that truth will never come out.
It has been proven that George Zimmerman gave not 1 but several scenarios of what happen that night he chose to kill an unarmed teenager skipping, no running, no walking home with candy and tea. George did say skipping running etc etc. He couldn't make up his mind which would benefit him the best. He also exaggerated (lied) about the severity of his injuries and how many times he was so-called punched. He lied about not knowing the address as they were plain to see and there are only 3 streets in the community. This man monitored parking spaces and he was Neighborhood Watch. He knew the street names. He is a liar and that alone will be enough to convict him. HE IS A PROVEN LIAR!! to add insult to injury, He is on prescribed psychotropic meds which can cause violent side effects. This story is about a grown azz man taking the law into his own hands and becoming THE JUDGE, THE JURY AND THE EXECUTIONER!!!
Wrong. That is NOT enough alone to convict him. Wake up and get out of fantasy land. I want GZ to pay as much as the next person, b/c I do believe he chased him down and when TM started kicking his wussy a$$, he used his gun. Had he not had the gun, he never would've exited his truck. He is a pu$$y. But the fact is that the prosecution has not and cannot prove murder. It's as simple as that. He will be convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Definitely NOT murder though.
Put this picture into the scene. After ph call to 911, Zimmerman got out of car, drew his gun out of holster, kept gun at his side, approached Martin. Sounds like something a wannabe cop might be stupid enough to do.
Post it all over...get it out and hopefully somebody who should hear this ...will.
He was physically unable to wrestle with Martin to even reach that gun behind Martin's leg, he already had it in his hand.
It is prosecution that is suppose to come up with theory, not Zimmerman! Prosecution is Martin's voice . All Zimmerman was doing was being a neighborhood watch.

Frankly, I wish we could focus on the facts, which include why did this fool Zimmerman even pursue this kid? I don't care if Trayvon Martin was a thug, which he clearly wasn't more than a young, smart-ass kid (and I'm black so I get to say this). Zimmerman pursued this kid, didn't identify himself as a security guard. This nonsense of Trayvon asking him if he has a problem would have stopped immediately if Zimmerman had responded that he was security and wanted to know Trayvon's business in that locked community. He didn't. Instead, he got his ass kicked by someone younger than him and like the punk that he is, he pulled the trigger like a big P***y and now is crying it's not his fault. Carrying a gun really can't protect you, even if you are a big, soft P***y like Zimmerman. So even if O'Mara is a great lawyer (which he's proving as we watch), Zimmerman should have to watch his back. Its more than I can say for a poor, dead black kid.
I agree. GZ is a pu$$y and once he started getting his a$$ kicked by a 160lb kid he used his gun. It's such a shame that someone like that is even allowed to carry a gun. I wish he would pay a bigger price, but unfortunately there is just no way to prove murder b/c the poor kid isn't alive to tell his side. Such a shame. And manslaughter is getting off easy in my opinion.
The fact is, George Zimmerman would never have left his car if he had not been carrying a gun. Who doesn't realize this? Sure, the fight came down to self defense – but it was self-defense for BOTH of them. As far as Trayvon Martin knew, he was being followed ("pursued") by a thug, so he became the aggressor, and when the fight started, of course he defended himself. Who wouldn't? The fact that Zimmerman was carrying a gun is why we're having this trial. If he'd been unarmed, he never would have left his car in the first place. This is the gorilla in the room nobody wants to talk about.

This trial is so jaded and mostly because of you.......You are not respected as a lawyer, at all. Sorry you haven't been able to find any DNA on Trayvon to further your one sided case. It is so obvious that Zimmerman is guilty and has profiled him from the beginning. You can pay a Medical Examiner $400 an hour but that still doesn't cut it. Why would he testify against him when he is getting paid? It is a good thing to are not cross-examining me. Hopefully, you are going to lose this case in a big way and we can see JUSTICE done..............It is my prayer that Zimmerman rots in jail...........

This case appears to have had "racial" implications due to demonstrated by the breeches of law enforcement procedure, malfeasance and obstruction that resonated as far up as possibly State Attorney Norm Wolfinger and for sure Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee. Not until the FBI announced that they were opening this case and Rev. Sharpton and other Civil Rights organizations became involved was there material movement. Everything possible about Trayvon's 16 years and 20 days upon this earth has been revealed about his life, especially the negative to disparage his character. However, according to Police Chief Lee the FPD was not aware of George's criminal record; which included an assault upon a Florida police officer. Which means not even a back ground check was ran after George had admitted to killing Trayvon. What we have here is hiding a "defective" family member who has mental health issues in the attic. This has not come into the court room and it should be dead center because it has and will continue to over shadow George's life. Medications probably has been throw at him all his life; but the behavioral issues still persist and have esculated in severity over time. Remember Adam Lanza – Sandy Hook, Jared L. Loughner – Arizona and Cho Seung-Hui, -Virginia Tech. All young men in their 20's with mental health issues, guns and commiting acts of murder. All were hidden in plain sight and falling through patch work mental health treatment, monitoring and apporpriate managment. This is the big elephant sitting in the room folks and it is the taboo. O'Mara is correct, because George will carry hiself where ever he goes for the rest of his life until he meets his destiny.

Watching this trial, I do believe theres more to it, however I still believe it is self defense...
the prosecution, has yet to prove what they charged GZ with. I do not believe GZ continued to followed MT, (not that it would matter if he did) because even states witness says TM was seconds away from a family home, but confrontation was not at this location. Tells me either their wack witness lied yet again about something else, or TM choose to confront GZ for whatever reason (and this wouldnt of mattered either) What there is no proof of besides the defense side, is who turned this into a physical confrontation.. thats what matters along with once it was physical, was their reasonable fear of bodily harm, death!!!!!

A nurse made a observation on one the tv stations this week that in her training in medicine that in the pictures of GZ's head injuries why was the blood running toward his face instead of toward the back if he in fact was being beaten on the sidewalk? I still haven't heard an answer.
Im thinking you havent heard an answer because her question was a stupid question.. Not that this matters anyways, because of how blood flows (according to surface and position for example), but pictures were not taken at the scene, they were taken at police station, after medical personal attended to him. Which by then he has sat down stood up bent over, etc.
If GZ would have listen to the dispatcher and waited on the police it wouldnt be a trial! Lets just say TM was going to break in somebody house, they could have protected themselves i trutly believe! GZ is guilty and he know this! All his witnesses is lying for him and one have wrote a book. Why he didnt request to go to the ER for his head if it was smashed so many times against the concrete? Was there blood on the back of his jacket or shirt he was wearing, since the rain washed it off the sidewalk!
This guy, Zimmermn, wanted nothing more than to be a cop. his uncle is a cop, his best friend is a cop. he applied to be a cop and failed the profile. He was rejected, so he bought a gun and made himself a cop. He was going to show that the profile he received was wrong. He found the perfect opportinity (TM in a hoody) persued and provoked him until the kid felt he needed to respond. now he could use his new toy and did just what he set out to do. He said on Hannidy he would do nothing different if he had a chance to do it over. he feels no remorse what so ever even knowing the victim was just a kid trying to get home from the store. What he does not realize is his life is over. he will be sued in civil court and lose.
GZ said he screamed for help and help didnt come, but later Mr. Wood said he came out his house and said im calling the police and GZ said NO i already called i need help why mr wood didnt come more closer to see wats going on and why GZ didnt inform him in wat was going on, Cause he knew he had killed an unarmed man! GZ said it was two black guys, wer is the other guy, if its true why he didnt then or now havent came forward to his friend defense!

I am almost positive he will be found not guilty, this is Florida we're talking about, not to mention the victim was African American. There will be trouble if this child murderer is found not guilty.

This trial should never have been brought to trial. The state has not proven GZ guilty of 2nd degree murder. The evidence was tainted, witnesses tainted, witnesses lied on witness stand under oath and admitted they lied on witness stand, Judge allows jury a "special treat lunch" just before defense rests, state had 2 weeks of bad witnesses, defense has 3 days and judge pushing defense to finish and when they do allows 3 witnesses for state rebuttal and 1st witness state asks questions nothing to do with rebuttal.. What a biased trial. What a race filled trial on the side of the state. Judge quick to jump on defense and letting state get away with whatever. Florida Supreme Court needs to step in on this trial Thursday morning and grant an acquittal for grounds of tipping the scales of justice in an unfair trial.
The evidence is not tainted. The problem is the city of Sanford at the initiation of this matter was so incompetent and racist, they thought that this matter was going to disappear and that the Martin family was going to accept the usual racial ignorance and blatant disregard to the death of this child. Remember, Tracy Martin had to go and LOOK for his son. The Sanford Police didn't do ANYTHING to help identify this child and that includes even calling his cell phone carrier to determine who he was. They were lazy and that in and of itself shows the lack of concern. The marches and the groundswell from the country on a NATIONAL LEVEL is what made this a NATIONAL interest story.
Let's just hope it never happens in your family because the one thing that this nation is clearly starting to see is that race in profiling is becoming less of an issue than class/financial abilities and education.

The only thing Martin did was defend HIMSELF from an attacker in the name of Zimmerman!. If Zimmerman doesn't act like a potential rapist, thief, or murderer... Trevon would not had have to defend himself.. Zimmerman the tough fat guy.. KNEW he had a bullet in the chamber ready to go.. that's when he became the tough guy... and he killed Martin

Well when you deputize yourself and gun down someone who was just walking home from a 7-11 these are the risks you take. I hope he's convicted but if he's acquitted he should never be allowed to own a gun again. He's probably more paranoid than ever now and liable to shoot anything that moves.

If you ouch someone, it's battery and you have the right to defend yourself reasonably. However, you can't wait until later when you are off duty and shoot them. That is premeditated Murder. You can't bring a gun to a fist fight. Sure I am angry at Zimmerman, but he's a cold blooded killer and he deserves anything that's coming to him. I have 12 justified homicides on my record. Each one I had to defend myself against. But there was a real and eminent danger to my life which I had to prove. There was a person trying to kill me. That is what makes deadly force reasonable. If Zimmerman can't take the scrutiny, if his defense is that Trayvon was a pot smoking gang banger who assaulted him, that is not a proper defense and is an unjustified homicide which makes Trayvons death premeditated. He brought a gun to a fistfight, that he knew was going to happen, regardless of the fact it could have been faked. Because I know fake blood when I see it. Reactions death was premeditated with malice and he believes he can just get away with it. And that is a smack in the face of justice he is a remorseless killer and deserves the worst punishment the law can provide and if it doesn't, someone else will. We should all thank God for justice.

Please pull up some credible and honorable men and/or women of color who support the verdict, jury & Zimmerman to share their perspective.
