Steve your answer is on point..had GZ been arrested immediately after the incident...there would not have been an outcry for justice. In the case Carol is referencing there had been an immediate arrest and that case is well on its way through the Judicial System. In Trayvon's case, no arrest, child in the morgue as a John Doe, and after identifying the body, parents told the shooter was free to walk around unchallenged on his statement of self defense against an unarmed teenager...IMO, and as you see from many other across the nation..that was unacceptable!

I'm quite frankly shocked that Zimmerman was found not guilty basically. I mean, come on, he shot the teen dead for no reason. It quite frankly is murder. He should of been found guilty and sentenced, where is the justice?
This case proves that there's something very wrong with the justice system if a man like George Zimmerman can shoot an unarmed teenager dead and get away with it.
Removing the race and age elements, would you still find such levels of sympathy for someone that hid in the darkness and physically assaulted another person? Most likely not. With that you're wearing the race blinders and avoiding the facts of the incident and the facts that were established during the trial. And because sensationalism is the tactic when retorting without facts, the age of Martin is being used to exert the victim is someone of innocence, a child, where in fact he was the victim of his own demise.

Just because someone assaults you at night, doesn't give you the right to shoot them dead. Was his life in danger? Was a gun pointed at him? Was Treyvon holding a knife to his throat? No. Zimmerman elected to pull a weapon and shoot the teenager dead, and no excuse given by Zimmerman supporters will ever change that, the situation could of easily ended without Treyvon being murdered in cold blood.
What Zimmerman did was not self defense, it was murder.

And what about the other young black man – Michael Maddison – who tortured and killed at the very least three young women, all of them white, whose bodies were discovered only recently inside an abandoned house in Cleveland, OHIO. Have we heard the NAACP speaking about that crime? Trayvon Martin made the choice to get himself a "white Man", as his many text messages indicated. 6"2' tall physically fit Trayvon Martin assaulted 5"7 overweight Mr Zimmerman who was doing his civic duty by walking around his neighborhood to keep it safe from hoodlums and thieves, some of them hooded and some of them teenagers. Trayvon Martin had the opportunity to walk to his father's place and even say "hi" to Mr Zimmerman as he was walking home. He instead chose to stick around, even surprise Mr Zimmerman in the dark and punch him and start a fight with him. He he would have gotten himself a "White Man" indeed had not Mr Zimmerman defended himself in the way he did. I wonder how many more hoodlums and thieves terrorized that neighborhood after the incidents. We are told that the house-breakings and thieving stopped immediately after that! Wonder why?????

Terrible situation, I think the DA didn't want to convict a "Stand your Ground" case because it is popular but needed to try a case because of outcry. If he had gone for manslaughter, I think GZ would be behind bars right now. A reasonable human being wouldn't bring a gun to a skittle fight–GZ was unreasonable that night. TM beating him gave him a reason to pull the trigger, even if neither of them should have been there in the first place...

If he wants to focus on the larger issues than he should do it on another platform that specifically addresses those topics. He was asked to discuss his rant concerning Rachael, not his vast array of opinions and assessments on the political state of America. And if he is focusing on the larger issues, then he should try to investigate the root causes of the problems assciated with what he feels is Rachael's lack of education, diction, etc. He was short on empathy and long on criticism for what she had experienced.
In light of the all the controversy over the George Zimmerman verdict, one should remember the old axiom, "Be careful what you wish for"
Only because of political pressure by civil rights groups did the Governor removed Norman Wolfinger as the State Attorney to prosecute this case. That is because Wolfinger was moving the investigation cautiously without any prejudice either way. He made it cleat that his intention was to present the facts to a Grand Jury to decide whether the facts and evidence supported criminal charges and, if so, what the charges should be.
The Grand Jury is the method that is normally and routinely used in cases like the Zimmerman case. But the civil rights groups and Martins' attorney had no confidence or faith in the Grand Jury process, even though only the prosecution presents evidence and testimony for the Grand Jury to consider.
But the State buckled under political pressure to proceed in an abnormal process in hopes of guaranteeing a finding of guilt for homicide. Had the normal process been allowed to proceed under Seminole County State Attorney Wolfinger, the outcome may have been more favorable, The Grand Jury could have charge more reasonable crimes to hold Zimmerman accountable, but the specially appointed prosecutor went for all the marbles! And the prosecutors had no integrity.
The system was subverted and the results are the outcome. So people should stop their belly aching. It was Treyvon Martin supporters who are to blame. They got the special treatment they demanded and now they do not like the results.

Hi Piers....love your show. Just watched you with that Larry Elders and I want to commend you on how you handled yourself. Honestly he was rude, ignorant, and sounded like a ranting fool. Again, I really enjoy your show and admire how you treat all of your guests, irregardless of how some of them i.e. Larry Elders do not know how to engage respectfully. I try and watch your show nightly. I also want to say the world indeed was watching the Zimmerman trial as I am Canadian and I am so glad your show (and Anderson Cooper) present insight while maintaining professional journalism.

I had never watched Piers Morgan before tonight and I am glad. I had no idea he was such a snobby, out of touch, left wing extremist. He obviously does not live in the same world where ordinary Americans live. I will not watch his show again. I will however, look to learn more about this Larry Elder guy. I have not heard anyone speak with such maturity and personal responsibility in a while. I applaud this man.

Larry Elder was absolutely ridculous! He was ignorant, offensive, disrespectful, and refused to answer directly any questions. Please, please, please do not have him on your show again. He obviously had his own agenda. Some assessments he made of the black community may have been true, but the way they were espoused fell on deaf ears because of his ignorance. I am a teacher, a divorced parent with 2 children who unfortunately, had little contact with their father while growing up. But my son is a lawyer and my daughter is a teacher and I am a black american who will never allow Larry Elder to speak for me!
Larry Elder admittedly has a "personality built for radio" in that he was a bull in a China shop during the interview. This is largely due to the fact that he knew he had limited air time and was focused on making a broader point in regard to the social woes facing America. I'm acutally suprised that CNN had the "balls" to air the entire interview as I was anticipating a recorded (and subsequently edited) piece. Larry Elder was overly agressive to be sure, but it was a core message that is certainly needed at this time.
The guest was absolutely correct when he indicated the disproportionate viloent crime rate vis-a-vis black/white. Facts are facts and I realize that this is exceedingly difficult for the race baiting / Socialisist crowd to accept.

I found Larry Elder's "performance" on the Piers Morgan show disgusting. Not only would he not answer any of Pierce's questions, obviously intent on spewing forth his own ridiculous opinions. I don't disagree that there is a huge problem in this country with African Americans killing each other, but there are huge social issues involved with that major problem. But, to assert, as he basically did, that if you were an educated African American walking down the street, then you had nothing to worry about. What world is he living in? I don't care if you're an African American who graduated from Harvard, Yale, etc., if you're walking through a predominately White neighborhood dressed "inappropriately" for that neighborhood, you better be watching your back. For Elder to even imply that massive racism does not still exist in this country is just stupid, or ignorant at best.
All Elder would have to do in that same neighborhood is tell the watch volunteer who he is and continue on. Do not sneak up from behind him and try to beat the volunteer to death.
