Mark O'Mara on George Zimmerman's recent rescue: "This is quintessential George...this is the person who I knew him to be"
Roughly one week since the jury in the George Zimmerman trial delivered its "not guilty" verdict, on Monday the defendant found himself back in the news, and once again, a 911 call is very much at the center of the story.
However, unlike in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, the intensions behind George Zimmerman's latest activities are without debate, as the 29-year-old man – along with four others – helped a family escape an overturned SUV.
Just four days after his acquittal, Zimmerman happened upon the scene, and offered his assistance amidst the very same Sanford, Fla. neighborhood and community where Martin's death occurred nearly 17 months ago.
Filling in for Piers Morgan, guest host Chris Cuomo asked attorney Mark O'Mara for his reaction to his client's latest activities:
“This is quintessential George. This is the person who I knew him to be when I found out about his past before February 12. Just a guy who’s always involved in the community, always willing to, you know, lend a helping hand," O'Mara told Cuomo, as part of a live interview. "And, here we go, four days after the event, something that I could not have planned, but turned out to be just pure George.”
Digging back into the essence of the case, and the nationwide reaction that came as a result, Martin responded to the comments issued by Barack Obama from late last week:
“If you look at just the sound bite, I think it was inappropriate to suggest that thirty-five years ago, Trayvon could have been him or whatever," said the attorney, joining the program from Florida via satellite. "But, if you look at the complete context of what the president said, I think what he was acknowledging was that we still do have some issues of race, and the way there is a divide between the country, still. And, it’s a conversation that we need to have.”

I just do not get it, did people forget Zimmermen assault charges from his wife, assault charges on an officer and that his father is or was a judge, therefore Zimmermen was able to walk away from those charges.
Zimmerman was NEVER charged with domestic violence. He and his ex-fiancee (not wife) had mutual restraining orders but she defended him to the FBI in the recent investigation. And Zimmerman's charges of assault on an undercover police officer who was arresting Zimmerman's friend in a bar, were tossed out in court as bogus (Zimmerman was merely asking why and "may" have pushed the officer's arms).
And Zimmerman's farther was a magistrate in another state, not a judge, and had no pull in Florida.
How convenient that each time...three times to be exact, that George Fibberman has seen the back of a police car as many times as those he profiles as "effin punks that always gets away," gets misunderstood and sent home.
Since he holds 3 mugshots in the the State of Florida...people like him need to be profile as a criminal, thug always getting arrested, bragging on MySpace how he beat the legal system and esposing ethnic prejudices against Mexicans.
Let's have some proof of this "heroism" of Zimmerman. His lawyer says Zimmerman is always helping out the community. So, why didn't he offer Tryvon a ride to his nearby home? After all, it was not only dark that night & raining as well, but Zimmerman believed that there were criminals infesting those streets; criminals so dangerous that he felt a need to carry a deadly weapon. And why are they covering up the race of the people he "rescued"? That is very important as to what this tells us about George's character.
The proof of Zimmerman's heroism is that he has to wear a bullet-proof vest because of the thousands of death threats and is in hiding (not even his parents know where he is), and yet he risked his life to help a family of strangers.
That you need to know the race of the family merely demonstrates your own obsession with race, one that Zimmerman never shared, since he took a black girl to his senior prom, had a black business partner, publicly defended a homeless black man who was assaulted by the Sanford Police, and was mentoring two black youths at the time of the shooting.
um, were these facts presented in the case? how do you know about his whole personal life? Are you his mother? If yes, I respect you and am sorry that your son made an evil decision to murder an unarmed black man with his concealed weapon. Just because you hang out with black people does not mean you are not racist. Does that make sense? If you think merely having some relationships (however poor quality) with black people means that you can't be a racist, then you, sir or madam, are ignorant and probably racist.
So what he took a black girl to the prom. The late Strom Thurmond had a black daughter and was one of the biggest racist Segregationist there ever was in politics. Racist whites in the South employed blacks. As far as George Fibberman mentoring two black youths...so what? They weren't TEENS...by that time, he would start profiling them.
I understand 80% of people in Florida have guns and Trayvon had one on order but blidsiding George was not a good idea. The next time he will know.
Maybe he would have offered him a ride – if TM had not sucker punched him and started the fight!

He did, however, have one speeding ticket, which was dismissed when the officer failed to show up in court.
Look at Clerk of the court for Orange county Florida and you will see that GZ was arrested twice.
GZ was arrested and charged with battery on a LEO. He went through a pre-trial diversion program and then after he completed the requirements of that program the charges were dismissed. They were not bogus charges and he had to complete a program to get the charges dismissed. They were not dropped. Look it up. Clerk of the Court, Orange County, Florida.

Or lack thereof, is at the heart of this case, and also that of Yoshiro Hattori, who was shot and killed in 1992 in Baton Rouge, LA, by a homeowner claiming defense.
