Steve King tells Morgan Spurlock he stands by his recent remarks to "Newsmax": "Of course I's utterly true"

Coming up on Saturday evening, Morgan Spurlock pulls up a chair, closing out "Piers Morgan Live" Guest Host Week with a flourish.

In a special weekend edition of the program, the host of CNN's "Inside Man" invites Representative Steve King to share his thoughts on everything from immigration reform and border control, to government assistance in relation to employment statistics:

"I think there are 100 million Americans that are of working age that just simply are not in the workforce, and one of the reasons that they're not lining up is because we have 80 different means-tested federal welfare programs," notes the Republican from Iowa. "If you add that all up together, it almost is a guarantee of a cradle-to-grave Middle Class standard of living. That's a big mistake to have a policy like that that would have that many people – not necessarily in the shadows – but people that are not in the workforce that should be."

Meanwhile, in a recent interview with the conservative American news media organization "Newsmax," King offered a colorful anecdote to explain his position on immigration:

"For everyone who's a valedictorian, there's another 100 out there [undocumented workers] who weigh 130 pounds–and they've got calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert."

Amidst scrutiny surrounding those remarks, the man filling in for Piers Morgan asks his guest if he stands by his commentary.

"Of course I do. It's utterly true, and I haven't found anybody that came up with a competing number – certainly I pulled the 100 out of a hat, but I think that's probably a low number," King he tells Spurlock, joining the program via satellite from Washington. "If we're going to wave the rule of law, because some of them are valedictorians, we ought to also understand that those who are smuggling drugs into the country would also have the law waved on them, and we would be legalizing a lot of folks that are regular drug smugglers."

Watch the clip for more of Spurlocks's interview with King, and for the entire edition of the program, which will complete "Guest Host Week," tune to CNN Saturday at 9.

I've said before and will say it again – it's scary how the Republicans keep producing people like Steve King. Why is this guy obsessing over the size of Latino calves? Since when did the size of someone's calves become evidence of illegality? If he wants to have a serious debate maybe he can stop with pathological comments equating anatomy with criminality and maybe he can stop treating numbers he's clearly pulled out of the air as factual.
