Tonight: "Our Nixon"
Coming up this evening at 9, CNN Films presents an intimate look at the Nixon presidency as you've never seen it before. "Our Nixon" is comprised of home movies made by three of President Nixon's closest aides: H.R. "Bob" Haldeman, John Ehrlichman, and Dwight Chapin.
On Wednesday, Edward Nixon, the youngest and only surviving brother of the late president, joined Piers Morgan to discuss the new film, and also share memories of his brother's presidency.
Welcoming the 83-year-old for a live face to face interview, the host of "Piers Morgan Live" asked his guest if his brother ever apologized to him for any of his political or personal indiscretions:
"He didn't need to," declared Nixon. "For me, he did what he - what he was called to do as president of the United States, as leader of the free world, really, and he did his best."
Ed Nixon is hopeful this evening's film will recognize the record his brother left behind:
"We're setting out now to do the legacy on what were those dreams that he had? How many did he achieve? Far more than many of his predecessors ever would have dreamed of doing with Congress against him, and he got it done," the guest reminded. "And he was praised for doing that."
Before concluding his interview, Nixon made a special point to praise his interviewer for some of his additional televison work outside of the CNN umbrella:
"By the way, you were very good on that," he referenced vaguely. "A good entertainer."
"'America's Got Talent?'" the host inquired.
"Yeah," Nixon responded.
A former judge on the NBC program, Morgan instantly had an idea for a can't-miss episode:
"Maybe we should have had the Nixon family on. It would have been a great act."
Nixon smiled, and agreed:
"We would have made some smiles for you."

Interesting and different BUT difficult to understand audio and captioning was not helpful. It really needs to be redone!
White letters were on white background in some frames. Italicizes lettering and spacing was unclear. TOO SMALL (especially for those who are of an age of great interest). SUGGEST: black bar beneath or to the side, larger lettering, sharper font.
Also the first half could use a few more connectors/ shorts between home films.Suggestion: news headlines or intro to where they are, more dates.
I hope you can do this before Sunday. If so, I will watch again and I reckon first time viewers will like it much better.
