"Piers Morgan Live, Rewind": Florida Bus Driver on witnessing a beating, Dr. Frank Ochberg on the demolishing of Ariel Castro's house

Whether you fell asleep early, stayed out too late, or simply want to watch it again, we realize it's not always possible to get your entire "Piers Morgan Live" fix from television. As an answer to this, we offer the below labor of love – "Piers Morgan Live, Rewind" – dedicated and designed to getting you caught up and connected to the conversation.

  • John Moody on witnessing a brutal beating on the bus he was driving:
    “I had many sleepless nights”

On Monday, a graphic video of a violent beating that left a 13-year-old with a broken arm and two black eyes was released. The scene, captured on a school bus security camera, left many wondering why the bus driver didn’t intervene in what seemed to be a brutal case of bullying. Piers Morgan invited the man that was driving the bus, John Moody, on air for a live interview to tell his side of the story.

“It's been policy that bus drivers do not jump in the middle of a fight. And me jumping in the middle of that fight with three boys would have been dangerous for other students on the bus as well as myself,” Moody explained.

Despite acknowledging, even retrospectively, that he made the right decision by radioing in to dispatchers and not moving a child that could have suffered serious injuries, Moody was deeply impacted on a personal level by the violence that took place under his watch:

“I took it personal. I had many sleepless nights, I had nightmares, couldn't sleep, it was terrible. Looking at that, it was like I was looking at a bad dream.”

  • Dr. Frank Ochberg on psychologically liberating Castro’s captives

Ariel Castro’s “house of horror” is set to be torn down Wednesday as a stipulation of the plea deal that protected Castro from the death penalty. Psychiatrist Frank Ochberg, who testified as an expert witness during the Castro trial, joined “Piers Morgan Live” on Monday to discuss the psychological significance of demolishing Castro’s home.

“I think it's a good move,” Dr. Ochberg said. “The neighbors are going to appreciate it. Whatever is done is going to be done there with taste. It's going to add value. It's going to take away a symbol and a reminder of something that we really want to forget.”

But nothing was more liberating for kidnapping survivor Michelle Knight than giving a statement in court, both to the public and to her captor.

“She was flanked by women who were twice as large as she is physically. But she was as big as all outdoors. I found myself applauding spontaneously. I don't know if it was right to do that as a psychiatrist, a doctor in a courtroom. But it was electrifying ... From being treated less than a human being in so many ways, to asserting humanity, dignity.”

The whole sad incident on the bus is utter BS. The school bus driver could have used his fire extinguisher to break this up if he wanted to. And hearing monotone "stop stop stop" just made me want to kick a hole in my TV. Funny how when 3 black kids nearly kill a white kid it's not a "hate crime" but you let it be the other way around and there's marching in the streets.

I want to know why Piers in not out raged at this child being beaten by three Black Thugs (the boy that was beaten is White). Is it because he is afraid the Black community will get made at him. He sure stood up for Trayvon Martin and he was a Thug. Double standard Piers, double standards. May have to stop watching you. Use to think you were smart and unbiased. Not true anymore.

Agreed. Why is this not being played as a racist beating as the Zimmerman case was. Why is Obama not say this could be his son? Proving how one-sided this racism debate is. I guess a white kid getting beat up by black kids does not get the ratings that a black kid getting beat by someone white would. I don't believe race was in play in either event, but its funny how only one of these stories is made into an oscar worthy story.

When/where is Piers' deportation hearing being held?

The driver did right. He could have been killed by those unruly kids if he tried stopping them. The parents of those kids should be held responsible for their children instead, not the driver!

Piers Morgan is the sanest of all the anchormen/women on CNN. Only stupid gun totting Americans would want him deported from America!

Many of those "gun totting Americans" have fought, and some have made the ultimate sacrifice, so that others can enjoy the freedoms we all hold so dear. Those courageous souls have made those sacrifices both here and abroad, so perhaps you could reconsider making such disparaging comments long enough to thank someone in uniform the next time you have a chance!

Piers Morgan is a fool....he is biased and only here in America because his own country won't take him back. The difference between Trevon Martin case is that this is black on white and Martin was Hispanic (made white by the MSM) on Black.....

Mr. Morgan, I'm wondering if you would be willing to take an introspective look at yourself. Had this video surfaced and the races been reversed, would you still be focused on what the bus driver did or did not do?

where are the Zimmerman haters that think its okay to beat someone up and not get shot. where are the anger the marchs the Obama words now. sure there are none, this kid was white, and he only got a black eye two and a broken arm. well so far! Being hit that many times in the head may have harm him more than we know. wow,, what a gun, would have done to stop this kind of beating. Not on the kid, the bus driver if he had one, that wanted to help but was to fearful him self. so to all the ones that feeled it was wrong for Zimmerman to save his own life, shut up. for you let this go on and say nothing. this was a 13 year old kid a kid, not a 17 almost 18 big guy a man a real kid. Not one that could fight in a war a real child. But his parents doesn't matter, for the jerks they didn't kill him, no they only try to sell him drugs and when he told they did this

I am still waiting for Al and Jesse to head back down to Florida and protest this racial beating... I am waiting for Obama to come out and say that if I had a son this could be him or in my younger days this could have been me. Are the New Black Pathers going to put a bounty on the heads of these three boys? Is the left wing nut job media referring to these three boys as white black Americans? None of this will happen because this doesn't fit these race baitiers agenda. Just think of the outrage if the races had been reversed.

What BS. Where is your outrage now Piers?

Wheres the offers to help this poor kid that will be traumatized for the rest of his life.

Where the offers to help send him to a better school for doing the right thing.

    Where the in depth story?

    Hello Mr Morgan
I've been wondering since you started questioning those against gun laws in America what they think about guns in other parts of the world. Reports tell us that the American Consulate in Bengazi was set up among other things to help get rid of the weapons that were just all over the place in Libya. Republican senators who support the NRA also support this policy of limiting the number of guns in Libya. But if they are not hypocrites, how come they believe that more guns in the possesion of Americans will ensure a less violent society but would not be the case in any other country in the world? Why would such a policy be ok in America and not ok in the rest of the world?

All three black kids should charged with felony assault and battery. Then they all MUST be found guilty and put away for life. Or else, or else there will be white riots and looting. If this isn't a hate crime, nothing is. The system has gone insane. The bus driver is a coward. If that were my kid, he would be pulled from school and home schooled.

I have one question...its to Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson. What are you waiting for? I don't have an ounce of respect for those two are the biggest racists on the planet. you dont have to be black to have discriminated against. Stand up for all racism or just go away. in my opinion those two are making things worse.

Piers, I was wondering where the interview was going. Sadly you barely touched the surface and avoided the real tough issues. You sold out. I thought you were supposed to be an unbiased person/reporter. Why aren't you voicing concerns louder for the boy who was beaten and why aren't you calling on Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to address this injustice. This absence of outrage by Al, Jesse, President Obama, why I ignore cries of any kind when it comes to race injustices.

The bus driver is only responsible to deliver these snot nose kids from point A to point B. He is not a law enforcement official, and not responsible for the action of these punks. Also, Jesse and Al can go screw themselves.

Another media coverup. if this had been 3 white kids beating a black kid, al, jesse, CNN, etc. would be fueling the racial hate crimes fire, calling for the feds to get involved, and spying on where Zimmerman ate his next meal. news is definitely not news anymore. media has an agenda.

    Ha-ha, typical CNN.

    1. Let's blame the bus driver, instead of the 3 "Trayvonn" thugs and their ... uhh ... "parent(s)", assuming they know who their parents are.

    2. Not a word about "deprivation of civil rights" in the form of broken nose or broken arm or whatever the white kid ended up with after the beating.

    3. And, as of Friday morning (Aug. 9), not a peep from ... Sharpton, Jackson Sr., Holder, or Obama.

Remember, it's all about ... "black power".

Piers. I hope you are reading these comments. What is it about you, CNN and MSNBC that refuses to cover the black on white crime/ beatings and killings that cause you to ignore. Are you afraid of Sharpton or Jessie Jackson or NCAAP?
Although you are stupid, you are white. Why are you a black sympathizer?

I only wish the kid had a permit for concealed weapon. If you are white in America, you need one.

The bus driver is black. If three white boys were beating a black, he would have broken it up after the first indication.
He stood there for over a minute watching then pretended to be concerned when he meagerly call for help.
Blacks are out of control in this country

My thoughts on this are: This situation is not uncommon. Kids are out of control. Being a bus driver we have been instructed not to try to break up a fight but to call for help. If we can evacuate the bus to protect all other children not involved. I am not a racist but to comment on what I say is to say 3 black boys beating up one white boy. Yes these boy should be punished to the fullest. Their parents to pay for damages. The bus drive I believe did what he should have done. How long did it take for the school or police to respond from the time the driver contacted them requesting assistant?
