Friend of James DiMaggio: "We're all very concerned...it seems so out of character"
With the whereabouts of kidnapping and murder suspect James DiMaggio still unknown, and a collection of local and federal authorities tracking him throughout the western portion of the United States, on Thursday evening "Piers Morgan Live" welcomed a close friend of the man currently accused of burning down his home, killing at least one person, and possibly abducting two children.
Andrew Spanswick often went camping with DiMaggio, and speaking live with Piers Morgan, he expressed shock and worry for the situation that is currently dominating the news cycle:
"We're all very concerned about Jim," he admitted in a live interview. "It seems so out of character that this would have happened, and it's hard to believe that that's what we're actually seeing, so, you know we're really trying to see is anybody actually looking for Jim. When I spoke to Laura, his sister, last night at length, two times, she expressed that, you know, the only result she could see from this is Jim ending up coming home in a body bag. Because, either one, he was going to get profiled and someone was going to shoot him, or something terrible has happened to him and maybe he was taken from the home."
As rumors swirl suggesting an improper enfatuation with Hannah, the missing 16-year-old girl who reportedly referred to DiMaggio as "Uncle Jim," Thursday's guest admitted that nothing can be ruled out:
"There's always a possibility of something. I work in mental health, I've been working in mental health for 22 years," Spanswick told the "Piers Morgan Live" host. "There's always a possibility that somebody could have a break. I heard some rumors on the media that he had been smoking marijuana recently, and I know that that's a big topic lately on CNN. There's always the possibility with the potency of marijuana these days, that people could have drug-induced psychosis that might relate to some of this behavior. But, it would have to have been an extreme event. Something like that, it would have to have been some really mind altering event that would change his character so dramatically from the man that I know who is actually someone who cares very deeply about people."

Maybe Mr. DiMaggio has been afflicted with an illness or brain tumor that has caused him to act so bizarre. Maybe there is medication that he should be taking that he has not been taking. If he cares about this child at all he should release her safely. Hopefully she will have her wits about her and find away to escape him or make him realize the error of his ways.

Meaning no disrespect but I believe Mr. Walsh has been rapped up in warped criminal minds far to long to suggest this guy is guilty and not only a " suspect " until all the facts see the light of day it is what it is regardless of what the law say, Mr. Walsh believes period.. Granted it sure doesn't look good but lets uncover the truth, find this fella and the girl and ask the hard questions fist before we find him guilty ....Mr. Walsh.

You're really going to introduce marijuana as a possible cause for this behavior? I think going on a murderous rampage and child molestation are the last things people worry about after sparking a joint. If anything, marijuana probably would have leveled him out a bit and kept his ass on the couch.
I found it incomprehensible that so much time would be devoted to a friend of a possible murderer making possible excuses including smoking marijuana - which does not cause psychotic breaks - while a 16 year old girl is missing or dead. What were you thinking???
Now that the feds have pretermitted any trial, all that's left is the hottie's story, which will be accepted without cavil. Mr. DiMaggio does not have the face of a killer-kidnapper- such sweet golden retriever eyes. And he was petting a grey cat when the horsemen met them at the camp-no doubt hottie's. She induced him to take her away. No need to kill brother and mom to accomplish that And burning house down only brought scrutiny of authorities much sooner. Much more to all this than will ever be investigated. Maybe the tv movie will fill in some blanks-NOT! Heather's pulled a fst one of some sort.
