"Piers Morgan Live, Rewind": Medical marijuana, when bears attack, and Beau Biden hospitalized

Whether you fell asleep early, stayed out too late, or simply want to watch it again, we realize it's not always possible to get your entire "Piers Morgan Live" fix from television. As an answer to this, we offer the below labor of love – "Piers Morgan Live, Rewind" – dedicated and designed to getting you caught up and connected to the conversation.

  • Vivian’s parents respond to Chris Christie’s medical marijuana proposal

As the medical marijuana debate has polarized the nation this summer, “Piers Morgan Live” has continued to present all sides of the argument. On Friday, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie announced that he would accept a medical marijuana bill that would expand options for patients, and allow qualified children to consume edible forms of the plant.

Thanks to the impassioned pleas of Brian and Meghan Wilson, parents of two-year-old Vivian who suffers from a severe form of epilepsy called Dravet syndrome, the topic made its way to the top of the New Jersey agenda. And on Monday, Piers Morgan invited the Wilson's to respond to Christie’s proposal.

Brian seemed hesitant to celebrate too soon, noting that the veto process will likely take time:

“Unless they have an emergency session to come in and approve these conditionals, we're waiting 'til at least November before it gets passed and then it has to go through regulation. Then someone has to figure out how to grow these plants," he explained in a live interview. "You have to figure out how to make the edibles for the children if they are actually even going to take that up financially.”

The result? Brian predicts about a year of waiting before Vivian can begin ingesting the medical marijuana that may save her life.

Meghan, meanwhile, told Morgan that moving to a state which would permit her daughter to access a prescription is an entirely realistic consideration:

“It's a decision that we discuss every single day ... a year is a year of seizures and even if we only have to move there temporarily to get Vivian on this treatment as soon as possible, that's what we'll do," she told Morgan. "We're not going to stop at anything to help our daughter.”

  • Abby Wetherell on surviving a bear attack

Sharks and snakes and bears, oh my!

This summer has seen an unprecedented number of close encoutners with wild animals, and 12-year-old Abby Wetherell is the most recent survivor.

She and her father Chris Wetherell joined “Piers Morgan Live” on Monday to recount the moments in which she was ambushed by a black bear while on a jog near her home in Michigan. Speaking live, Abby told Piers Morgan about her split second decision, which likely saved her life:

“First I ran because I was terrified so I just started running and then it just took me down," she recalled. "Then when it took me down the second time ... I had nothing else to lose so I just thought, "I'll just play dead" and that seemed to work.”

Her father meanwhile, shared his perspective:

“I was inside the house,” said Chris. “I just heard a lot of screaming. I ran out, asked my wife what was going on. She heard the screaming from a neighbor who heard Abby screaming. I immediately just grabbed a gun and I ran out because I heard Abby and bear and it was just - it was terrifying."

Though Abby came out of the ordeal with deep gashes to her legs, back, and face, which called for 100 stitches, she was lucky to have walked away with her life.

  • Beau Biden’s health evaluated at Houston hospital

On Monday night, Piers Morgan broke the news that Beau Biden, the son of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, and a friend of “Piers Morgan Live,” was brought to a Houston hospital to "determine the cause of what's being called an episode of disorientation and weakness that he experienced while on vacation with his family last week.”

Delaware attorney general Beau was accompanied by his father for the evaluation. No other information about Beau Biden's condition was released.

In 2010, Biden suffered what doctors said was a mild stroke, but his speech and motor skills were not affected.
