Guest Host Chris Cuomo leads a discussion with Syrian-Americans focused on the regime of President Bashar al-Assad

As Congress continues to analyze the data and debate the implications of going into Syria with American military activity, "Piers Morgan Live" invited a live studio audience, partly comprised of Syrian-Americans, to share their own perspectives.

"We want to show America and the world the other side of the story that is not being covered," Tom Sarcon, a Syrian-American told guest host Chris Cuomo. "We are happy with our regime. We've been very happy with it."

The New York Times' Nick Kristof rebutted Sarcon's statement:

"If President [Bashar al-]Assad thought the majority of people would support him, he would have an election," Kristof noted. "There is no doubt that there are significant communities within Syria that support the president. A great portion of the Christian community supports President Assad. There's also no doubt that the majority of the country is Sunni and is very unhappy with Assad. And he would lose an election."

Standing by his statement, Sarcom pushed back against Kristof's explanation:

"I think it's our right to decide our future and our regime," he emphasized. "It's no one's business to decide."

It's interesting Prince Bandar of Saudia Arabia is belived to have supplied the weapons & chemicals to the rebels in Syria. Why is Saudia Arabia supplying weapons to Pakistan now? How long will the Royal family of Saudia Arabia stay in power? Lets not forget the devils of 9/11 were Saudi Arabia's. Bin laden was from Saudia Arabian moved to Afganastan & created havoc. The house of Saud will fall much sooner than later.

I like how you guys totally stacked the deck against intervention. The only person mildly for intervention is Nick Kristof. Thanks for showing us one side of the argument.

Amen! Very distorted presentation. Bolstering Rumsfeld who was part of the team that did an assessment that sent troops to Iraq because of WMD. Obama's assessment is not fact but Bush's assessment was fact? Cannot believe what these Republicans/Conservatives won't do to try to embarass Obama. Now thy are selling America down the tube. The Hawks of the US are suddenly doves?

The window of opportunity to send a message to this purely evil dictator of Syria has passed. Does anyone really believe that he is teachable in the first place? Do you think he will care if a few buildings are blown up? He does not care about the babies of his own nation. If we must protect National security so be it, but have we considered that our strikes may hit these chemical warfare stores?

If his military operation units are targeted, he won't be able to respond to the attacks and will have no choice but to head to Geneva.

The discussiom on Syria focuses on the wrong considerations; the primary consideration is humanitarian. It is said that had the US bombed the trains carrying victims. And materials. The US did not do that and more people were murdered. This continued through Cambodia when millions were killed and tortured; Ruanda was a similar tragedy and expresident Bill CLinton apologized. The US. Intervened in Kosavo with commendable results. The US and the world should first deal with the murder and displacement of Syrians. Military response should occur when thr humanitarian needs are taken iCare of. The world will be with us then. The chaos of the resulting civil war will be something else to be dealt with.

The perfect double standard was caught on video in little jewish town in NY. Im white,40yrs, blue collar, and all about my childrens future. Now, in NY...... I think Dem mayor hopeful " Weiner" is an idiot, and a loser how is trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the people of NY......If their that dumb we'll see. BUT..............That example of the Jewish " passive aggressive extremist" who got in an argument with weiner ( which is a good debate to have) showed the exact kind of ignorance all of America has come to expect from jews. He belted out of desperation to have the last word ( but spoke the exact truth he felt) That how could weiner be ,human, American and marry an Arab woman.......Really an arab woman.......that's hippocritical in its self , noted Middle eastern... and assuming muslim because Israel hates all muslims....Period......A merica is noting and fed up with Jews crossing the line, boundries and respect....Picking most fights and confontations, then hiding behind the U.S to step up to the front to defend their stupidity and incompetence....Jewish Extremism is alive and growing America..

The REBBLES are TERROIST what they do is terrorise people. Lets get real the Rebbles are Talaban the same people we are fighting in Afganistan. Why would they not use chemical? They want the West to get involved why for a reason. The royal family Saudi Arabi wants us in this war so they can stay few months longer. The Kingdom sits on shifting sand.
Why should we get involved in this war & send our service men in this war?

Why do I say yes to the a Military strike:
Yes, because Assad is a major ally of Iran and Hezbollah.
Yes, because Saddam Hussein transferred his WMD to Syria before the war in 2003.
Yes, because Hezbollah killed 244 marines in Lebanon 1983.
Yes, because there is one million children refugees.
Yes because there is no boots on the ground.
Yes, because Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Dubai, and Kuwait offered to pay the bill of the intervention.
Yes, because if Assad got away with chemical, Iran and N. Korea will got away with nuclear.
Yes, because you are human and you should not sit like a coward while children being gassed to death, and that's what Hitler did to millions of Jews.
Yes, because Syrians are fighting Assad, Iran, Hezbollah, Russia and N. Korea on their own for almost 3 years with no help from the world, and this is not a fair fight .... Syrians want an end for 4 decades of a dictatorship, three years of genocide, have Freedom and Democracy!

Except on CNN. Where did they get those people. If they live Assad so much, why are they not in Syria? Why are they in the US while other citizens get gassed? How are they outraged about soldiers of war being killed in cold blood but not innocent women and children? Who paid them.?

Hamza alkhateeb, 16 years, and Thamer Alshary 15 the two kids that tried to smuggle food to the people of Derra, who were under siege by the Syrian regiem back then, were tortured to death and mutilated by the Syrian intelligence because they were extremist fighters!!!

All those people who took the street in peaceful demonstration in Homs, Derra, Idlib, Dair al Zour, Jesser al Alshghour, Hama and the Suburbs of Damascus, and were confronted by live bullets, were paid 1000-1500 lira wich is equal to 100-150 dollar at that time (I got these numbers from Basar speech in the Syrian parlement), by Bandar bin sultan to be killed, or tourtured by the most brutal regime and intelligence in the middle east.

The hundred thousand people that took the streets in Hama for 3 weeks, were songs, dances and chant against Bashar and his gangs filled the sky, were Al Qaeda fighters. That Ibrahim al Qashoush was killed, his throat was extracted brutally and his body was thrown in al Assi river, because he is an extremist fighter and not because of his famous chant against Bashar and his gangs “ yallah irhal ya Bashar”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Syrian Americans living comfortably in the US, tell us they are happy with their government? Happy with a government that "gases it own people. Killing soldiers of war is brutal but killing innocent women and children with Sarin is not? Something is amiss here and CNN is supporting this absolute nonsense. We went to war because of the assessment of the Bush administration that included Rumsfeld who now says assessments are not facts? Then how did we go tto war in Iraq?? And CNN and the American public stand up and believe Rumsfeld. If Bush was in office, the Republican would be hollering about American exceptionalism and there would be no Syrians on TV supporting Assad. White people will do anything to make President Obama look bad! That is what this is all about!

i love how the cut them off from talking so quickly too. how interesting for them to be saying assad is really the good guy, and the rebels/al-queda......are still running rampant. not our business. clearly there is another agenda, and all along we're helping the "rebels". CLEARLY no one wants a fight. NOT just almost EVERY single american but the rest of the WORLD! now i know there are bad guys out there, but I'm starting to think we're one of them. or just a bunch of pusses that can't stand up to them. pathetic really. disgusted.

Well, we should leave Syria or rebels on their on. I do not understand why Syrians are burning churches and killing Christians. This always happens when US tries to attack any regime in any islamic country. All this has nothing to do with Christians living in muslim wolrd. Best thing to do is leave them on thier own. What past has shown is that whenever US helps the muslim world they turn back and stab u back and send terrorist to US or kill Aericans in other parts of the world.

This regime actually has weapons of mass destruction and used them. Nobody has to lie or dupe the american people as Bush ,Cheney or Rumsfeld did on the Iraq front. We know Iraq was a case of civil war just as Syria is what has changed ,other than Assad actually had them and used them.

What really makes me angry, is when I hear an American citizen say something along the lines of "in my country...", and he's not referring to the United States of America! If you are a naturalized citizen, if you hold a US passport, the USA is your country!

US citizenship isn't something to be obtained just for the benefits, or so that one can lreside in the US
