Dan Rather on Obama's Syria strategy: "We know that dilly, dally, dither, and delay are the Four Horsemen of presidential failure"

As the Syrian civil war continues to wage, and as the perceived appropriate role of the United States continues to be heavily debated, on Thursday evening "Piers Morgan Live" invited legendary journalist Dan Rather to share his trademark candor and perspective.

In the wake of growing criticism directed at Barack Obama, Rather offered an analysis of the performance of the president to this point:

"This is the reality of the second decade of the 21st century, and a 24 hour news clock, and constant, around [the clock] coverage. There was a time when president's had more time to make decisions," recalled the former anchor for the CBS Evening News. "This is a time, I think, for what it may be worth, that Americans need to be alert, studying the situation, and steady as we go. We know this: whatever your party or ideological, political slant, that in President Obama and in Secretary of State Kerry, we have two very smart, very experienced, in Kerry's case, somebody who has seen the savagery of war up close. And two men who hate war, don't want to go to war."

Equally well-known for his seven Peabody Awards and innumerable "Ratherisms," the man with more than six decades of journalism under his belt offered his usual serving of exquisite rhetoric in describing the teetering position of Obama's legacy:

"There is the danger for him in terms of his reputation and the rest of his presidency, we know that dilly, dally, dither, and delay are the Four Horsemen of presidential failure," said Thursday's guest, in his trademark style. "He's walking that fine line. I do think that the public at large doesn't want to get involved in Syria. Instinctively they see it as a snake pit."

    This was cut off before I heard the end or anything of real merit; People on both sides of Syria want us to stayout of their civil war..yet we are now arming the Rebels. Kissinger becoming involved proves illuminati level globalization involvement. Rather may be part of the problem because people like Rather are pretty smart but possibly owned. Perhaps he just pretended to be against the Bush-corp regime. I have no facts except the people of the whole world and America are tired of war and the war machine dictating policy. Remove all profit from war and take out the makers of chemical weapons now. With ones eye firmly on the past we miss the fascism happening allover now. And it is most rampant in the corruption of the Republicans who serve only their corporate masters.
