Three days after picking up his first career Emmy Award, on Thursday evening comedic legend Bob Newhart joined Piers Morgan for a live, face to face conversation.
Traveling with his shiny new hardware, which comes after seven nominations and more than five decades in the industry, the 84-year-old television legend shared his thoughts on the current crop of comedians:
"I enjoy Jerry Seinfeld, I enjoy Rickles, I have to say that," said Newhart, before the host jumped in for clairfication.
"When I say modern, I didn't mean Don Rickles. He's even older than you," laughed Morgan. "If Don Rickles is the future, let's try to think somebody at least below 90. Don Rickles is probably watching, and he can't believe his luck. You've just proclaimed him as the future of comedy."
Moving across the pond to his home turf, Morgan asked about a pair of Brits:
"Do you like Ricky Gervais and Russell Brand and that style?"
Newhart confessed to being not all that familiar with Brand. However, after having seen Gervais as recently as at "The Golden Globes," he offered his review:
"Once I get the translation, yes, I find myself laughing."
Having captured his award for his work on CBS' "The Big Bang Theory," Newhart described hearing from a certain fellow comedian, and current network late night host:
"Jay Leno called me up and congratulated me on the Emmy," revealed Newhart. "He said his favorite joke, that I told on his show, about this man who was...this spaceship landed and these aliens took him on this spaceship, and they took him up to Mars."
Watch the clip to hear Newhart deliver the hilarious punchline, and for the next edition of "Piers Morgan Live," watch CNN every night at 9.
