On Thursday, Piers Morgan spoke with members of Oracle Team USA about their surprising victory in the America’s Cup Final on Wednesday. Beyond the impressive facts – winning 9-8 after an 8-1 deficit – Dave Roberts, former player for the Boston Red Sox and winner of the 2004 World Series, sent along his congratulations.
Jonathan Macbeth, Team USA Grinder, responded to Roberts’ words:
“I don't think for anyone in the team it's really dawned on us when we have a chance, you know, it's - be standing to hear these comments about a great comeback and maybe one of the greatest that, you know, setting an sailing team in world sport is just incredible.”
Morgan then questioned exactly how American Team USA actually is. While the team pulls sailors from across the globe, all of the members acknowledge their excitement in winning the Cup as part of Team USA.
Simeon Tienpont, Team USA Bow, explained:
“We have Rome Kirby – he's the young American in our team. We have John Kostecki – he's our American tactician on the boat, and of course there's a huge American culture within the team and I think, you know, we live the American dream, never give up, keep fighting forward look at the goal and we did it and yes, it has been great. The American people, the fans, living here has been a great experience.”
- Gingrich on Clinton: We weren't best friends, but...
Thursday evening, on the heels of Morgan's interview with Bill Clinton, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich explained just how he remembered the last government shutdown:
“It wasn't that we were friends,” said Gingrich about his working relationship with Clinton. “But, we both understood that you had to find a way to work for America even if as political rivals, you were fighting over what was going on.”
Clinton had told Morgan that, while tough at times, he and Gingrich ultimately reached an accommodation. Gingrich continued:
“We had an ability to pick up the phone sometimes very tough conversations. But to pick up the phone, to get together in the same room, to keep talking and my guess is that we spent more days together than Obama and Boehner has spent minutes together this year.”

Why don't you state the fact that President Obama can't negotiate with John Boehner because he is an overseer of a house divided. Boehner is in a weakened position because he does not have control of his own members. He can't bargain without running it through the Tea Party radicals. If it was left up to Boehner we would not even be here but he like other members is afraid of the Tea Party.
President Obama can't negotiate with John Boehner because Boehner is a whimp, and his inability to work with an African American Preident probably has something to do with the wy he was raised. Pierce Morgan should not assume he knows whether or not there's been any negotiations going on. As far I'm concern, I am, and so are millions of others, behind the President. If it takes a shut down, then so be it. Maybe Boehner should throw those girlish ties away,stand up, and be a man.
