As the clock struck midnight in Washington, D.C., officially shutting down the American government, Piers Morgan invited Amy Kremer to offer her specific perspective on, among other things, Obamacare, the very bill that sits at the center of the debate currently holding up business in the nation's capital and beyond:
"The legislation was passed not with one Republican vote. And it wasn't even passed through the normal process. They had to use a procedural trick to get it through," insisted the Chairwoman of the Tea Party Express. "Had the American people known all this negative stuff that's coming out now, I think that the results of the last election would have been different."
With the interview initially following the traditional back and forth format, eventually the "Piers Morgan Live" host simply allowed his guest to make her point, uninterrupted, and with great intensity:
"After this legislation was shoved down our throats in 2009, 2010, we elected a Republican House. The House controls the purse strings. Your House of Representatives is our most direct form of representation in Washington, D.C. And we control the House...Yes, he [Barack Obama] may have been re-elected but the house was also re-elected into conservative hands. Republican hands. And we are having this conversation which we should be having," said Kremer, before suggesting that the Senate Majority Leader has been placing his party's needs over those of his country. "Harry Reid wants a shutdown because be believes it's a political victory for the Democrats in 2014. No one's talking about how Harry Reid and the White House was threatening a government shutdown on July 26th if the sequester was not rolled back."
With his guest finally allowing him an opening, Morgan said simply "Amy Kremer, thank you very much indeed."
