On the backdrop of a government shutdown that was nearing a full 48 hours, on Wednesday evening Piers Morgan welcomed a collection of informed and opinionated guests, all charged with offering their insights and perspectives.
"I talked to Ted Cruz earlier today and we were both laughing over this idea that one guy, one freshman, junior senator is somehow able to shutdown the government. It's not physically possible," stated conservative talk radio host Ben Ferguson. "The President of United States of America has decided to again deny even after he met with Republicans to say 'I refuse to negotiate on anything.'"
Joining "Piers Morgan Live" in the program's New York studio, Josh Barro shared an alternate point of view to that of Ferguson:
"Obviously he didn't check on the government by himself. He had the whole house Republican caucus to help him," said the "Business Insider" Politics Editor. "If they really wanted to there's a procedural tactic available to them and the democrats to cost that to come to the floor and be passed. They haven't been willing to do. It's Republicans as a whole who've decided to shut down the government and this 'he won't negotiate' line is just complete nonsense."

As part of the second day of a government shutdown, Wednesday night saw "Piers Morgan Live" invite a pair of Congressmen – from opposite sides of the aisle – to share their suggestions and reactions.
"Let's do this, you want another vote on Obamacare, you want a vote on delay of Obamacare or medical device tax? Okay," proposed Democratic U.S. Representative for California Adam Schiff. "We'll agree on a vote on that. We won't guarantee you'll win the vote. You have to deliver the votes in the house and senate but we're not going to allow you to put a gun to our head, so let's reopen the government. We'll guarantee once the government is reopened you can have your votes in both chambers. We'll let the majority decide both."
Luke Messer, meanwhile, a Republican U.S. Representative for Indiana, noted that simply because the Affordable Care Act has already passed doesn't make it immune from scrutiny and evaluation:
"History is littered with bad laws that were once in effect and were later changed. The fact this used to be a law or is a law, not used to be, the fact it is a law is obviously relevant but it does by in and of itself you know validate it."

As part of the second day of a government shutdown, Wednesday night saw "Piers Morgan Live" invite a cancer patient in a National Institutes of Health trial express his frustration at the squabbling politicians.
"I think it's pretty ridiculous that - especially since the whole debates over healthcare law like they're trying to engulf all of these," said Greg Sibbel. "He's trying to help people like me trying to get hold insurance and get treatment. And I can't find a resolution and it's affecting people all over the country just like me."

People are frustrated due to the behavior (personal revenge) of Republican. There is no necessity to shoot down the lady in the car. Cops could able to stop the car by many other way and absolutely no need to kill the lady. Having gun in hand means, even cops lose the capacity to use their brain.
This comment isn't about the shut down but about gun control. I was listening to fox news coverage on the lock down in Washington today .. I like the listen to both sides of the coin. but as I was listening to some of the female commentators saying is was surreal and scary all that came in my head was how if they were in a secure place and scared they should now have a bit more compassion for all those children in Sandy hook who had to look there killer in the eyes. they never seemed to care but now maybe they could understand it a bit better and they are grown adults. just a quick opinion. I work with the tv on so I don't know which commentator said she was scarred but I just got a bit angry at it when they all acted as if sandy hook wasn't reason enough to tighten gun control. but watch they tightern there security over this and think most people were crazy to try it after sandy hook.
Pat..why bring Sandy Hook into the conversation ??..None of the gun proposals would have prevented the horrific Sandy Hook shooting,or any of the other mass shootings..why can't the grabbers get this though their heads ??..The exploitation of Sandy Hook by the liberal politicians and the media for their agenda was and is reprehensible....The focus should be on those who are doing the shootings...like the criminal thugs,and on occasion the mentally ill...We don't ban cars,to control drunk divers ?? Of course not ...we try to focus on and control the drunks themselves ,and not "car control" ..The only people that gun control effects are the law abiding citizens...Thugs don't obey laws.
The entire reason the U.S is on shut down , is the Republican party , NOT excepting the decision of the people , and essentially running their own agenda > The President won't and shouldn't , and doesn't have to negotiate the platform he was elected on !!! Simple , no big surprise he won't sit down with anybody to re- run the election ??? In my mind , and I am Canadian , The American people should be able to sue this rogue faction of the republican party >None of this makes a bit of sense .
Compromise is the name of the game, and that's what they're supposed to do in Washington...And even Obama has on numerous occasions delayed various aspects of this monster...So you're wrong,....it's not just the GOP's fault...in fact the "left and the media" is milking the blame game on the republicans for all they can get for the 2014 mid term elections.
I got American exceptionalism well and clear. Had it been in another democratic country, it would be a joking line to American politicians. Guess what? No such squabble happened in any other democracy. Let us understand that if an upper and a lower chamber of a parliament disagree on this kind of issues, it would open a way for dissolving the parliament and call another election by the PM or the president of the country. I am sure that would have solved the problems for once and for all in the US if we had such democratic procedures in place.
Politics has sickened US health care system and it is affecting national economy, Gov, employers and workers, young and old . It is time to separate politics from health care system. We need to create a organization similar to Feds (Federal Reserve System) to manage health care system without political interference. This organization should be able to make long term bold right decisions without pandering to any specific interests. This is the only solution that is going to work.
Piers – Given Rand Paul's words over the weekend – being caught on tape saying that he thought they were "winning" - I wonder if this could be compared to Charlie Sheen's "winning" comments in 2011. Sure seems like it to me.
