As the United States readies for what is easily described as the single biggest shopping day of the year, on Tuesday evening "Piers Morgan Live" welcomed Gary Vaynerchuk, asking the New York Times bestselling author and social media expert to share his perspectives on marketing and commerce, with an eye towards digital ingenuity:
"If we start following these retail brands on Facebook, Twitter – I think the one place to start really paying attention to is Pinterest, and Instagram are emerging, as well – but across these platforms, these are becoming the new e-mail services, e-mail open rates are declining, these social networks are growing, and so I would focus on following the retailers of choice across these platforms," he told Piers Morgan. "Though not all the retailers are doing a good job."
The gentleman who loves "to talk about his passions, hustle, wine and business" was quick to note that Friday is hardly the only significant shopping day riding the heels of the Thanksgiving holiday:
"Also don't forget about Cyber Monday. So, a lot of these people, if these companies are playing on these platforms, they're also very much focussed on Cyber Monday," said the man often known simply as "Gary V." "A lot of these bricks and mortars stores, they're trying to grow their business. Listen, Walmart and Target and Costco? They're paying attention to the Amazons of the world, so they're trying to grow their cyber business. Cyber Monday's becoming a very real player in this whole equation of a weekend, as well."
