I know this is in the wrong place, but from the celebrity stage I'd like see something worthy held forth. Namely what is NOT happening in this country to fight drug addiction. Millions spent on dozens of good crusades but the one that is robbing us of talent, youth and greatness is seldom if ever addressed on the big platforms. Guns? You're big on it. Violence? Big against that. Human rights? Big against it. Let's address the fact that we cannot arrest away our drug problem. We throw money at conflicts around the globe and spend pennies on real solutions here. Big bucks on the "War on Drugs" but not for the solutions. Education and treatment. I feel like the lady who started MADD. My son is addicted and there are just no readily available solutions for help. That is a shame that needs to be addressed.
    Thank you.

Weapon purchase background checks for mental stability, as Mr Weinstein suggests, implies testing and a database to query and report results. I'd like to know if he supports a national database of everyone who has ever been adjudicated or treated for mental illness. I'd also like to know which specific and professionally accepted test he would like to see administered. Once in the database, what would be required to be removed from it? Before saying such talk is paranoid remember that not long ago judging and registering people for undesirable traits, then implementing policy to mitigate those 'weaknesses', had tragic results. These folks need to be careful what they ask for.

My sincere respect goes to Harvey Weinstein for having the courage to make this movie as the hopeless war on gun control has seen more and more innocent US lives lost. More than all the wars fought over seas. What is more insane than Americans having to have guns to protect themselves from their own people? To be seen as the country that sends troops to foreign countries to protect the world from brutality, when their own citizens are slaughtering innocents in their own country is pure madness on the grandest scale. The rest of the world is appalled and respect has been lost. Every time we read about another school massacre – the rest of the free world says "Shame on a country that does not protect its own citizens FIRST!. Harvey Weinstein – you are a true American hero and Piers Morgan you are more American than most. You care greatly about the future of your adopted country and have taken much heat for standing up for the true rights of American citizens. i.e The right to feel safe in their own homes and schools. Gun control is a no brainer and the first step to regaining respect from the rest of the world ,by sending the message to your own children and citizens – that we will protect you at home, in school and on the streets. Those who fight against gun control are making it loud and clear – they care little about the future of their own country. They are the trigger of internal combustion for what was once a country greatly admired. Thank God I live in a country (Australia) where living in fear from our own people is not the norm. One of our own brilliant young men was recently shot in the back and murdered whilst jogging in the US ! Many tourists are now discussing options to holiday in safer countries and the rest of the world will soon vote with their feet . If you aren't safe – neither are we. If you don't care about your own citizens – we care "greatly" about ours.

Piers Morgan and Harvey Weinstein are both lying con artists that misrepresent facts. Gun Control and Gun banishment are two different things and they are trying to mask their beliefs. We have a 2nd amendment and will always have a 2nd amendment. Pass all the laws they want so the law abiding people and responsible gun owners can obey them. Criminals couldn't care less!

Piers Morgan and Harvey Weinstein are promoting gun banishment and not Gun control. In most of the shootings backround checks were done and the people passed them because they had no criminal record or known mental health issues. (James Holmes, Aaron Alexis, Karl Pierson and others) and The ones like Adam Lanza stole their firearms from a person who legally purchased them and passed backround checks. Others such as EricHarris and Dylan Klebold had someone else who was of age with no criminal history or mental health issues buy the guns for them. Don't forget the convicted felons like Evan Ebal who had a girlfriend buy him a gun. Name one gun control measure or law that would have prevented these tragedies.

I like Mr Weinstein he tells good stories and doesn't assault the senses with over loud background music and inarticulate actors who can't get the dialogue out so we can follow the plot... Regarding guns in America I still maintain that one must retrograde a step back from 'mental health' issues. What is causing it? The youth preoccupation with aggressive and virtual computer and dvd games. It does no good for the brain, it desensitises and those vulnerable to it fall prey to the innate violent propaganda inherent in these games and want to act it out. Therefore the manufacturers and designers of these inhumane games are the ones with the mental health problems and should be given mood stabilisers to prevent them harming the general public and society at large.
