Nancy Grace on George Zimmerman's "victim" claims: "Just go away and stop rubbing salt in my wound"

Amidst the overwhelming backlash surrounding CNN's morning interview with George Zimmerman, on Monday evening "Piers Morgan Live" asked a trio of voices to offer their insights and reaction.

In a sit down interview with "New Day" host Chris Cuomo, Zimmerman – who in July was found not guilty in the killing of Trayvon Martin – referred to himself as a victim, suggesting that the ordeal of the trial, and the associated media attention, had taken an intense toll on him personally.

Nancy Grace did not share Zimmeramn's perspective:

"Frankly, he's got a lot of nerve, because Trayvon Martin is dead. At least Zimmerman is going to get to get out and do his artwork online and sell it for 100 grand and have his groupies, and his website, and all of his boxing matches for charity," said the host of HLN's "Nancy Grace." "While Trayvon Martin is never getting out of his coffin. Zimmerman needs to just go away and stop rubbing salt in my wound."

Joining the program from Washington, DC, Van Jones seconded Grace's disappointment with the approach taken by Zimmerman:

"I'm sure that in his own mind he feels somehow victimized, but honestly, you would expect at this point for him to be able to show enough class, enough dignity, to not try to seize that mantel and that mandate, and to talk more about the harm and the pain and the suffering of the Trayvon Martin family," noted the "Crossfire" co-host. "When you don't see that, and you see the other stuff that he's been doing, whether it's the arrest, this other sort of stuff, you feel like, you know, not only did the guy get away with it, he doesn't seem to have learned very much. And I think that's what really hurts people who care about this whole situation."

Ben Ferguson, meanwhile, suggested that the former Florida neighborhood watchman would be best served to simply disappear from the public spotlight:

"I don't understand why [he] doesn't realize - just go away. Just walk away from the cameras. You don't have to do the interviews, you don't have to sit down and tell your story," said the conservative radio host. "Your story is not a sad story. You're not some sort of victim from what happened after the fact. Now, that night, to be honest with you, no one really wants to hear about you becoming a victim."

Maybe I've missed something. I'm taking no sides here, but what is Ms. Grace's "wound" with respect to the Zimmerman case?

I'm so sorry Nancy. Your wounds and pain suffered in all this must be atoned for immediately. How could this world be so cruel to YOU?

Nancy, You should take a step back and think about this a little more analytically. This is not very good for your character and how you appear to viewers. Reporting and debating is supposed to be somewhat based on facts and relatively emotion free. I do understand that Zimmerman is a bad guy and has killed people, but you have to take his comments and interviews with a grain of salt. Zimmerman will eventually understand the magnitude of his own sins, but it will take time.

Zimmerman is a bad guy, based solely on the claims of his attackers parents lawyer and their publicist. Look at the news article (press release from Crump) that started the smear campaign on Mar 8th 2012 in Reuters. Crump knew nothing about Zimmerman, called him white and racist, based on nothing, and media jumped on it like gospel.

Nancy, Your comments on the Piers Morgan show tonight were 'right on the mark'. I appreciate your witty perspective unfettered by a faux need to be PC. I still find it unbelievable how some people continue to sympathize and give G. Zimmerman the benefit of the doubt... stating in a comment above "...give George time, he will come around". Seems unfair, George, the adult, being given time to come around...while the child he killed lies in the ground.

When does a child attack and beat an adult, sit on them and beat them for a minute with the adult screaming for help?

When is a child left alone in a strange city by his parents and given money to buy drugs and roam the streets at night?

When does a child continue to beat a stranger who has done no harm to them when neighbors yell at him to stop and say they are calling the police?

Trayvon was no child, not a 14 year old like the media pictures showed. He was 17, a fully grown man, and fully responsible for his actions that lead directly to his death. He attacked and beat Zimmerman, threatened his life, and reached for his gun, the very definition of self defense was stopping him by any means including deadly force.

The CHILD was on the phone talking to a friend walking to his father's home from a trip to the store with candy and a ice tea when a stranger approached him with a gun(Zimmerman admitted this).......Stop trying to make what he did ok!!! He started the fight and put himself in harms way. I get being a concerned citizen but In what world do you have the right to demand anything from anyone other than respect. Where do live that its is mandatory or even safe to tell any stranger on the street where your going if they ask you????????? He had no right to confront this boy who was merely walking home. If he was concerned he should have just let the police do their job and he should have kept a safe distance.

Tracy Martin did not live in Sanford, he was visiting his girl friend Brandy Green who was a renter at Twin Lakes, and Trayvon was NOT walking toward her condo he was standing according to the police timeline for half an hour just inside the complex when spotted by Zimmerman. Trayvon did NOT have Ice Tea, look at the crime scene photo's, media just lied about that because it was in the Crump story.

Zimmerman was armed as he had been since 2009, but Zimmerman NEVER approached Trayvon. Trayvon walked up near Zimmerman's truck while he was talking to police, and Trayvon ran when he saw he was on his cell. Zimmerman got out to see if he was running out the back gate as all previous people had done, then stopped and waited for police to arrive. Four minutes later Trayvon came out of hiding and approached Zimmerman from behind and attacked him.

None of these people know what the hell there talking about, all of them are say these thugs didn't due anything wrong, they were good kids??? Travyon Martin has kick out high school, and was on drugs, he was kick out of his mother house because of his criminal actions, at 17 years of age??? The medical report stated Travyon had liver damage due to drugs used, he attack Zimmerman physically, which is a felony in all 52 states, he was involved in the neighbor break-ins in the neighbor where he was confronted by Zimmerman, the jury agree that Trayron was all of the above, a thug, a Criminal, a drug user, you all live with it, black people stop blaming your kids problem on everyone else, take responsibility???

You're so typical, as you recite Fox-News spewed BS. Calling Trayvon a drug dealer just shows your ignorance since that a LIE! Trayvon NEVER had been charged with a crime EVER! So that's the 1st lie you told. You seems to leave out Trayvon had a 3.4 gpa average and recieved several scolarships to go to college. But all of this character assassination of a murdered child just shows how pathetic, you and like minded individuals are! Zimmerman profiled, stalked, confronted a minor who was simply walking to his father's girlfriend house, from a store! It's sad idiots like you seem to ignore that fact! Take responsibilty of your ignorance!

Where do you get such baloney? Trayvon failed the FL high school graduation test, he had 53 unexplained absences that year and three suspensions, he was not going to graduate, likely not even passing his classes. Trayvon's interest was fighting and drugs, not school or college. FL sunshine law made all of the text messages on his cell phone public information, read them and educate yourself.

but do mistakes in an underage life deserve murder? in my youth i was no angel, and i'm sure i'm not the only one, i made many mistakes. however, thank God no one thought i was a threat at 5'2" and 125 lbs – my appearance was never perceived as threatening. this, it looks like, according to stand your ground and according to many comments, should have been enough to warrant gun brandishing and a fatal shooting (one-sided gun brandishing mind you). with this thinking, i could have and should have been shot at 17; just for being. please, let's all remind ourselves that just existing in our skin is not reason enough for harm to justly come to us. that's why trayvon martin is dead and that is the real tragedy here. the only way george zimmerman could possibly think of himself as a victim at this time, is because experience now orces him to think about the situation before he blindly shoots an unarmed person again. his victimization is in theform of his subconscious and his self-awareness that he is indeed a cold-blooded murderer. the situation is shameful all around.

Trayvon's skin made no difference, none.

Trayvon's actions led to his death. Trayvon brutally attacked a weaker looking stranger. Broke his nose and knocked him flat on the ground bleeding, but did not stop. Trayvon sat on his victim and beat him while Zimmerman screamed for help, and Trayvon did not stop the beating. When Trayvon saw his victim was armed, Trayvon did not stop, he escalated the beating to life and death by reaching for the gun. Zimmerman stopped his attacker the only way available to him.

Pierced Morgan your a oxymoron...who are you to say after Trayvon Martin & George Zimmerman were fighting that when Trayvon was beating George down was he just going to stop and walk away with George dead or was he going to call 911 when George was dead? Ok SURE if George wasn't a community watch program then you'd say he doesn't have a right to lookout for his sir are a POMPOUS IDIOT who wants the policeman to take care of everything and everyone! Lets exam your beliefs about a country who embraced your POMPOUS ASSAULT: YOU BELIEVE GAY PEOPLE HAVE SOME KIND OF NORMAL FAMILY LIFE AND IF A CHRISTIAN OR ANYONE OPENS THEIR MOUTH YOU TRY TO MAKE THEM TO BE A BIGGOT!!!
If you own a gun or 2 its ok but if you own a 1000 its way too many us Americans are crazy for needing anything bigger than a shotgun and it won't kill as yeah but he would take shotguns off the "legal to own list" too!
If your getting your ass whipped you should wait like Trayvon Martin and see if George is going to fight to the death or just get his head beat in til he can't talk or feed himself ever again!!
PIERCE MORGAN YOUR A PIECE OF SHINY POMPOUS IDEAS THAT LOOKS GOOD TO YOUR VIEWERS BUT LOOKS BAD TO THR AMERICA I KNOW AND UNDERSTAND MORE THAN ANY BRIT!! you know the stuff they either say when on tv or when your around...I know americans because I am one! The CNN news people simply fail to realize the gun carry law requires people to avoid conflict (The Law Simply requires people to Run Away from conflict). The Good and Bad Criminal People in prison seem to have forgotten this point.

After hearing the evidence, the jury agreed that George Zimmerman was the victim. If he hadn't had a gun, George would be dead with his brains splattered all over the sidewalk, and Travon would probably have gotten away with it.

It's plan and simple....Zimmerman was found not guilty,in a legal court of law..end of story...What would anybody have done if they were suckered punched by a bigger male and then having their head being bashed in on cement by an attacker sitting on top of them.??.If Martin would have killed Zimmerman, this would have never been news...but the seedy tabloid buffoon Piers Morgan keeps bringing up this "non story" hoping to create controversy so as to boost his dismal ratings...The only thing that will boost the ratings in that CNN time slot is when Moran is gone.

    2 points –
    1. What personal wound does Grace have which Zimmerman is salting? If Trayvon Martin's parents said that I would hear them loud and clear, but an HLN personality?
    2. Zimmerman could not disappear from the public spotlight if he tried. A warning for speeding was front page CNN for crying out loud. I do wish he would attempt to live a quieter life, but even if that is what he does, the media has already shown that they will follow his every step.

CNN seems to only care about how much money they can make, no matter who they smear or how much they need to lie to do it.

There is no evidence that Zimmerman wished any harm of any kind to Trayvon. Trayvon attacked and beat him without mercy while Zimmerman screamed for help, but did no harm to Trayvon. When Trayvon saw the gun and reached for it instead of stopping the attack, Zimmerman had no choice but to stop him.

I cry myself to sleep every night that baby Tray was murdered in cold blood! Sure, he continued to batter and bash a man who was pinned on his back, bleeding on both sides of his head, and desperately screaming at the top of his lungs for help.. but.. forget all of THAT! He was just a little boy, a straight-A student that didn't do nothing wrong! Tea, Skittles, hoodies, Stand Your Ground, profiling, racism! Focus on *that* stuff.. not on the merciless beating on the bleeding, screaming man! OK? Thanks!

What if I, a woman, decide to walk home after the sun has set, like Trayvon Martin walked home that evening?

What if I am selected by an armed aggressor to be stalked, like the armed aggressor George Zimmerman selected and stalked Trayvon Martin?

What if I turn to face the stalker and stand my ground, like Trayvon Martin stood his ground when the stalker George Zimmerman chose to ignore police admonitions and—with intent—pursued, set upon, and confronted his victim?

What if I defend myself against the stalker who has set upon me on a dark and isolated path, like Trayvon Martin defended himself against the stalker and aggressor George Zimmerman?

What if I attempt to fight off the stalker and aggressor, like Trayvon Martin attempted to fight off the stalker and aggressor George Zimmerman?

What if I am killed by the stalker and aggressor, like Trayvon Martin was killed by the stalker and aggressor George Zimmerman?

Will I, like Trayvon Martin, be blamed for my own murder?

And will the stalker and aggressor who killed me, like George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin, be cast as just your friendly Neighborhood Watch volunteer?

How could you get your facts so wrong? This contradicts everything that was proved at trial.

George was walking back to his truck, and Trevyon could have gone home. Instead, Treyvon decided to chase down and confront George, sucker punch him and bash his head against the sidewalk. George never pulled his gun out until Treyvon went for it first, determined to murder George.
